Hello my lovelies and welcome back to my blog. I hope everyone is having a great “Hump day”. I usually do a wardrobe wishlist on Wednesdays, but in lieu of this great cause I wanted to write about something I think we should all be informed about and I think is important to participate in. I am sure at one point or other you have all heard about how quickly we are exhausting this planet’s natural resources and how much waste we produce within days. I know what you are thinking, “I thought this was a fashion and beauty blog?” and let me tell you guys it still is! Rarely do you see fashion and beauty companies get involved with environmental and public health issues until now. I wanted to do a feature on what H&M is doing this week to help reduce their carbon imprint. Through the week of April 18th to April 24th you can walk into any H&M store and donate your old, unused, and even tattered clothes and not only will you be helping recycle this clothing into new, reusable material, but H&M will give you 30% off to get new clothes while you are at it. Discount aside everyone, this is an amazing cause and one I am happy to have been a part off.

I took all my unwanted, unworn and old clothing this past Monday to the H&M at the Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown, New York where the lovely men and women associates helped me turn in my old clothes for new ones. They explained to me how their recycle week program worked and what I learned was truly remarkable. Every year H&M collects tones of donated, unwanted clothing. The clothing is then sent to a processing plant where they get sorted out into things that can be resold versus things that are too worn to wear. Most of the textiles are resold as second hand goods. The too worn to resell items get broken down and reused as everyday house-hold items like wash clothes, rags and so on. Some are even converted into insulating materials for houses. These clothes can even be reconverted into new clothing. 99% of the garments collected will be re-worn in some way shape or form, reused or recycled. So what will happen to the last percent? Don’t you worry that will actually get converted into energy. Yup! I know crazy right? Everything can be repurposed if you find a way. Keep this in mind every time you think your junk is just waste and you can always, always find new and innovative ways to recycle.

I hope I have enlightened you all a little more about this cause if you had not already heard about it and to celebrate and support if it I have dressed head to toe in H&M with the clothing I got discounted after my donation. I hope you all enjoy this look and let me know if you participated in this great cause.

Now onto the look! This day wasn’t too chilly, but I still paired it with one of my all time favorite pieces from H&M because I feel like a good pea coat can always make an outfit extra special. I paired the coat, which is actually not too heavy to wear on warmer days, with this flowy, very light fabric blouse. Topped the look off with some comfortable leggings and some cool keds and I was off to see Hardcore Henry with my lovely boyfriend. Follow me on Instagram for more personal pictures of my life, in case you want to stock me wink, wink. This was the perfect causal outfit for a day at the mall and movie theater. I decided to pick out pieces I knew would be staples in my wardrobe and that I could use and reuse all throughout the year.
