Hello my lovelies and Happy Earth Day to all! Welcome to a new edition of Feature Friday here on my blog. Don’t know what this feature is about? Check out previous features here! Feature Friday is a once a week feature I do where I select an outstanding beauty product or brand I believe deserves it’s own recognition of excellence. This week’s feature has to be Glossier for me!

Let’s begin with a bit of background history on this company. First we must look at the roots, beauty pun intended! The skincare and makeup company you see today, Glossier, actually emerged from a website called “Into The Gloss”. A website dedicated to beauty and the exploration of women and their inspiring journey. Emily Weiss started the site in 2010, since then the site has grown into the top online destination for those looking to seek insightful news about beauty, makeup, skincare, hair and health. They feature women and literally sit down with these women to breakdown what makes them tick, and what beauty and health means to them. Their honesty and candid writing is what helped catapult this site to grandeur. Finally, in 2014 the site gave birth to Glossier, a modern beauty products brand made by editors. People who sat right in front, face-to-face, with some of the biggest frontrunners in the industry to produce products that work and were inspired by what real women want in real life. The company is based in New York, with contributors and readers all over the world. I am happy to say I am honored to be contributing this piece and a candid review about what I think about these wonderful products I have tested. No, this is not sponsored by Glossier in any way and this is my very honest opinion about these products I purchased with my own money.

One of the biggest things I love about this brand is their motto, “We believe that beauty should be fun, easy, imperfect, and personal. Personal is exactly the word I would choose to describe Glossier. I first discovered this company through their skincare products. The Glossier priming moisturizer was the very first product I ever tested out from this company. Glossier claims it is a lightweight and buildable moisturizer for dewy, smooth skin, the perfect canvas for makeup application. The first time I applied this product it was life to my skin. No joke a beautiful feeling primer that plumps the skin with moisture to create an even texture. My face felt balanced, looked radiant, and smooth to the touch. It helped my foundation glide on smoothly and with a dewy like finish. I have oily combination skin and I found this product did not make me oilier than usual and it did do a wonderful job of prepping my skin for makeup, which is what a nice primer should do in my opinion.

A while back I heard Glossier would be introducing their second phase to real beauty, a makeup line. So once again I scurried on over to glossier.com and placed another order for these three, newly released, makeup product gems. Glossier divides their products into two phases. Phase one is skincare, making sure the skin is prepped and ready for makeup application (it includes, moisturizers, cleansers and even a skin tint). Phase two incorporates the makeup essentials all women need. The essentials for grooming for the start of your day, of course, include a brow gel “Boy Brow”, a beautiful lightweight “Stretch Concealer” and a gorgeous sheer matte “Generation G” lipstick. I will be breaking each product down and giving you my honest pros and cons about each one, but before I get into the reviews of each individual product I just want to point out shipping and packaging. I got my order within three days regular shipping and the way they package your products is a marvel. I appreciate a company that takes the time to put a little love in the way they send out their products. It shows they equally respect their own products as they do you as the consumer in getting them in the mail. The products came beautifully wrapped in a sturdy box with a lovely message and lets not forget the pink and white sleek packaging of the products themselves. Absolutely adorable! Here are my thoughts on these wonderful makeup products:

Brow Boy”: If you guys have been following me from the start you know I don’t use heavy brow products on my brows. I was thankfully blessed with thick, bushy, brows and I happen to like that untamed look. So pencils and bow wizzes are not for me. I prefer the natural look of brows achievable through brow tints and gels. You might also know, from following me, that I am obsessed with Benefit Gimme Brow, well guess what folks? I got a new love and its called Brow Boy! The formula and color of this product is fantastic. I would highly recommend this product for beautifully defined, but very natural looking brows. Just see for yourself in these pictures.

Pros: Lightweight formula, No Clumping, Looks Natural, No Scent, Lasts upwards of 8hr or more without flacking, smudging, or fading,

Cons: I have to be honest I couldn’t find one. Sorry if that wasn’t helpful, I just feel like this product was made for me. It ticks off all the things I look for in a brow gel and packaging and wand were also fantastic.

Stretch Concealer”: I have to say the first time applying this concealer was very odd. Let me explain, I was expecting this product to be heavy like most concealers that come packaged in pots. Instead what I got was an under-eye crème-like concealer with high pigmentation, but which applied smoothly and thinly under the eye. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least, and definitely a product unlike any other I have ever tired before.

Pros: lightweight formula, no scent, creamy very creamy, light to medium coverage, buildable, no creasing, lasted all day.

Cons: Once again you guys I could not find a complaint. The only thing perhaps that may bother some people is the fact that you may have to apply it with your fingers and the product is housed in a pot, which I know does not appeal to some due to the possible unsanitary condition and contamination of the product, but honestly there is a reason why it is in pot form. Like I said before it applied like an under-eye crème and so patting it in over the under eye area was the best way to build the color and keep it looking smooth and even. The product comes in five shades, but trust me you wont have trouble finding one to match. The formula is nice, truly a marvel of concealer technology. Did not cake up or look dry and flaky even after a while after application.

Generation G”: Is Glossier’s new line of lipstick, lip balm in one. It is described as a Popsicle flush on the lips, which I have to agree with completely. It dries to a velvet sheen finish and is not drying at all on the lips. Beautiful pop of color. I got mine in the color Jam, a raspberry-blueberry plum tinted balm. Absolutely a dream to wear all day!

Pros: lightweight formula, Creamy application, sheer tint, buildable pigmentation, not a matte finish

Cons: Wear time is about 4-6 hours without eating or drinking, but honestly because it is like a balm it can be reapplied over and over and it will not look cake-y or dry. The scent was about the only thing I did not like about this lipstick. I almost wish it had some sort of fruit-like scent to go with the names. Instead it has a very distinct plastic smell, not my favorite, but the product itself is unlike any other lipstick balm I have used. It is nourishing on the lips, feels like it’s moisturizing my lips as the day goes on.

Final verdict and thoughts about these products, now that I have been using them for a good week. I have to say I completely love the concealer, and brow gel. Especially the brow gel, this may be my new Holy Grail product for perfectly defined; yet naturally looking brows. The concealer is just really cool to use and it doesn’t crease or cake up, which are my biggest pet peeves when it comes to subpar concealers. This one is beautiful and I highly recommend it. Finally the lip balm, I honestly didn’t think it was very special, but it does feel lovely and creamy on the lips. I am a fan of the natural looking pout so I thoroughly enjoyed the product. The one thing I could not overcome was the plastic like smell. I really wish they did something about that. If you don’t mind smells and you love a good balm with beautiful natural pigmentation than this is the product for you.

I hope you all enjoyed this review and Feature Friday of Glossier. If you would like to purchase any of these products use this link and get 20% off your first order!
