Monday Must-Haves: The Little Black Pump and Mini Handbag

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful and safe weekend, now back to the Monday grind! There is a little series I love to do, here on my blog, to start the week on the right note, its’ called “Monday Must-Haves”. In this series I like to highlight certain fashion and beauty products that I believe are a must-have for everyone in their wardrobe or makeup essential’s bag.

This week I wanted to discuss the little black pump and mini handbag. We are quickly approaching the Summer season and with these months come a lot of weddings and baby showers and party celebrations. Events and occasion, if you will, that merit a fine pair of little black pumps and a small handbag/clutch to finish an elegant outfit. These accessories are by far some of the more essential wardrobe pieces everyone needs.

Let’s start by talking about black pumps. Move over prince Charming, if Cinderella were around today glass slippers would be far from her essential wardrobe kit. There is nothing more iconic and fashion forward today, than a beautiful, elegant pair of suede or leather black heels. This perennial fashion favorite has withstood the test of time because it is the perfect go-to-shoe for a day or night out. Not only do they fit well with an elegant party dresses, but you can elevate a causal outfit with a nice pair of black pumps. They top off the blue jeans and boyfriend tee ensemble just right. A pair of black pumps, simply put, adds polish and finesse to any outfit.

For my look on this special occasion I chose to pair my Forever21 black pumps with this elegant dress from ChicWish. I was all dolled up for a gala event at my boyfriend’s School where he teaches. Ok, now back to fashion. Speaking of black heels I am actually in the market for a new pair, myself. Since this is such an iconic and essentials piece I would like to invest in a higher quality pair. I am currently looking into Christian Louboutin. Yes, I know they are at the higher end of the spectrum when it comes to this shoe style, but I believe they are worth the investment. Number one, they will last me a very long time, two they are probably the only and last pair of pumps I will ever need, and three well they are just beautiful! Let’s move on to small, mini, and clutch purses. I am the sort of person who enjoys downsizing her handbag a lot. I am very minimalist when it comes to this iconic accessory. Yes, I am a huge fan of bucket bags also, but I believe everyone needs a small, compact and portable handbag to take with you on special occasions and events. I am particularly obsessed with my new baby and newest addiction to my Louis Vuitton collection. It’s been months in the making and lots and lots of saving to get this pre-loved baby in my hands. I happen to the think the Damier Eben print of Louis Vuitton is extremely elegant looking and makes any outfit that much more special. You can easily dress down or up this handbag, but for this occasion I wanted something portable and versatile that would go nicely with my look. Not only is this bag comfortable to carry, small, and sleek but it also has a cross body option that makes the bag even more perfect for every day use. I am currently strutting this baby everywhere with me. Comment below and let me know what your favorite mini bag is for Spring and Summer. I also particularly love this LV piece because its less fussy and delicate than some monogram pieces with vachetta, untreated leather straps. With the Damier Eben print you never have to worry about bad weather, so if you happen to get caught in a downpour during the Spring, you are covered. I think if you are looking to invest in a Louis Vuitton handbag you have to sit down and really look at your lifestyle needs. Also, I highly recommend you going in-store and trying the bag on your body. One of the CONS of the Alma BB, the bag I have featured here, is that the strap may be too long for some people. So this is something to be weary about if you are below 5 feet tall. You may also not be into cross body type bags, which is why this one has a top handle option. I found this bag to be very comfortable to carry around with me all night. Speaking of comfort be sure that if and when you also invest in a pair of nice black heels that you are able to stand and walk on hem for extended periods of time. I find that more affordable shoes tend to lack the comfort factor, which is another good reason to look into higher end options.
